Belt, Road project in Saudi Arabia wins high recognition
The second unit of the Saudi Arabia Yanbu Phase III project was connected to the grid for the first time on March 13.
The project was undertaken by POWERCHINA's subsidiary SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Corporation in the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phase.
Steam turbines, generators, main transformers, plant transformers, and other equipment were operating normally. The project's excellent parameters, and the stable operation of various systems were highly praised by the owners, supervisors, GE stakeholders, and other related parties.
The Saudi Arabia Yanbu Phase III 5×660MW Oil-fired Power Plant is the largest of its kind under construction in the world.

It is an important livelihood and political project in Saudi Arabia. The project's progress has attracted great attention from the Saudi government and all sectors of society.
The Minister of Environment, Water Resources, and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia has visited the project three times.
The project also has important strategic significance for POWERCHINA to further expand its brand influence in the Middle East market.
The EPC contract of the project was officially signed on May 7, 2017. The construction started on May 17.

During the project construction, SEPCOIII ensured the high-quality and efficient progress of the project with the international standard quality, safety, and schedule management system, as well as the strong EPC industry chain resource integration capability.
To date, the overall progress of the project has been completed at approximately 65 percent.
Adhering to the concept of joint construction and sharing, the project has provided employment opportunities for more than 13,000 people from more than 10 countries along the Belt and Road.
The project also has provided a strong impetus for the smooth realization of the Saudi government's "Saudi Vision 2030" development plan.
All employees of the project department have upheld the concept of "sincere performance, safe performance, and compliance," and strived to achieve the goal on the premise of ensuring safety, quality, and progress.
