Updated: 2019-01-07 15:50

The Jinkang Hydropower Station in Guinea was POWERCHINA's first aid project to Africa when it went global in 1964. It also served as a testament to the long-standing friendship between China and Africa.

Following the wave of reform and opening up, POWERCHINA established itself throughout Asia. The Tishrin Hydropower Station in Syria was a large-scale hydropower station that was designed, supplied, installed and commissioned by China at that time.

The Punglung Hydropower Station in Myanmar is still Myanmar's largest hydropower station and receives the most investment.

The Laos Nam Ou River Cascade hydropower project, the first international project independently undertaken by POWERCHINA, was selected for the backside pattern of local currency.

The Darawat Dam in Pakistan was named the "World Bank South Asia Regional Environmental Protection Work Model Project" and won the "British Construction Industry 2014 Overseas Engineering Award".

During the 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-2010), POWERCHINA built the Merowe Hydroelectric Power Station on the Nile River in Sudan, the Tekeze Hydropower Plant in Ethiopia and the Malaysia Bakun Hydropower Station.

It also built the Coca Codo Sinclair Hydropower Station in Ecuador, POWERCHINA's largest overseas hydropower project to date, and agreed to build a number of now well-known hydropower stations with global influence. The company has been fully recognized by industry peers from home and abroad.

Since the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), POWERCHINA has spread its reach throughout Asia, forming a project group in multiple countries. It is involved in thermal power, hydropower, new energy, and infrastructure.

The China-Laos Railway, the first modern railway in Laos, was built by POWERCHINA and adopts Chinese technical standards and equipment.

The Jakarta-Bandung railway is the first high-speed railway in Indonesia. It is also China's first overseas high-speed railway project to consist of investment and financing, planning and design, equipment manufacturing, engineering construction, operation and maintenance.

Saudi Arabia's Rabigh Power Station is the largest coal-fired power station in the Middle East with the largest single-unit capacity.

The Moragahakanda and Kaluganga dams (M Dam and K Dam), known as the "South-to-North Water Diversion Project" in Sri Lanka, are the largest water conservancy projects in the history of the country.

Africa was POWERCHINA's first international market, and upon completion, the Morocco Noor II 200 MW Solar-Thermal Power Plant and Morocco Noor III 150 MW Solar-Thermal Power Plant will become the world's largest solar thermal power plants.
