Investment forum to promote China-Bangladesh cooperation
A promotional meeting for the China-Bangladesh Investment Forum was held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, on July 24.
The forum will be held in Beijing on Aug 21. It will bring together about 300 government officials, corporate executives and investors from China and Bangladesh. Bangladeshi Finance Minister AMA Muhith will lead a delegation of government and enterprise representatives to the forum.
Li Guangjun, economic and commercial counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, said that in recent years, more and more Chinese investors have been investing in Bangladesh and setting up factories there.
"Bangladesh can attract more Chinese investment by offering more preferential policies. China also welcomes Bangladeshi investors to invest in China," he said.
He added that China is one of the largest FDI countries in the world. In the future, business entities from the two countries may consider more cooperation under a public-private partnership model.
Abrar A. Anwar, chief executive officer of the Bangladesh branch of Standard Chartered Bank, said that China is the second largest economy in the world. More and more Chinese investors are looking for overseas investment opportunities. The forum will provide a platform for policy makers and investors from both countries to better understand each other.
The forum was jointly organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Euromoney Conferences.
