POWERCHINA signs power equipment purchase contract

The signing ceremony for the boiler, steam turbine and generator of the Barisal 350mW coal-fired power plant project in Bangladesh was held in Harbin on Aug 28.

POWERCHINA Resources Limited, an important subsidiary of POWERCHINA, signed a contract with Harbin Electric Co and Dongfang Electric Co for the purchase of the three pieces of equipment.

Sheng Yuming, chairman of POWERCHINA Resources and Zhang Fenlai, deputy general manager of the company, attended the signing ceremony.

Sheng introduced the company and its overseas power projects. He emphasized the strategic significance of the Barisal power plant project in Bangladesh and suggested that the three pieces of equipment be managed strictly according to the contract.

Qu Zhe, vice-president of Harbin Electric Co, and Chen Huan, vice president of Dongfang Electric Co, stated that they will guarantee the manufacturing quality and delivery schedule of the equipment throughout the contract period, and will help build the Barisal 350mW coal-fired power plant in Bangladesh into a world-class plant.

The contract-signing parties stated that they consider the project as the beginning of a new chapter in their cooperation.

The power plant in Bangladesh is one of POWERCHINA Resources' most important overseas investment projects, and the successful signing of the contract is an important milestone in its construction, marking the official beginning of the mechanical and electrical materials guarantee work.

The technical parameters of the boiler, steam turbine and generator were finalized in the contracts, which provided an important basis for the construction of the power plant and laid a solid foundation for the overall advancement of the project.
