SEPCOIII to operate 2×660 MW power plant in Bangladesh
The operation and maintenance contract for the S.ALAM 2×660MW supercritical coal-fired power plant project in Bangladesh was signed between Huafengweiye Electric Power Technology Engineering Co LTD, a subsidiary of SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Corporation, and Bangladesh's S.ALAM Group in Beijing on April 10, 2017.
Shi Huaiwei, deputy general manager of Huafengweiye Electric Power Technology Engineering, and Mohammed Saiful Alam, chairman of S.ALAM Group, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties.
The project will operate in BOO mode. The project owner is a joint venture between SEPCOIII and S.ALAM Group.
After the plant becomes operational, operation and maintenance work will be undertaken by the joint venture power company formed by Huafengweiye and subsidiaries of S.ALAM Group.
The two parties discussed the implementation of the project after the signing ceremony.
Alam voiced his expectations for the operation and maintenance of the power plant.
Shi said that Huafengweiye has a professional operation and maintenance team, an efficient management team and a scientific management system, and will spare no effort in ensuring the safe, stable and efficient operation of the units after they become operational.
The S.ALAM Power Plant was designed with two 660 MW supercritical units, making it the highest-capacity coal-fired power plant with the highest-capacity single-unit thermal power units in Bangladesh.
The plant is fueled by imported coal, and the special coal-unloading terminal makes use of seawater DC cooling and seawater desulfurization technology. Most of the equipment for the project will be made in China.
As an important project of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor, the power plant will significantly alleviate pressure on the local electricity supply and promote local economic and social development.
