POWERCHINA does its part in Phuket rescue

Meanwhile, the Asia-Pacific headquarters of POWERCHINA launched an emergency response procedure and set up a volunteer rescue team comprised of translators, relief material distributors and drivers.

"As a Chinese company, we have the responsibility to do our part and help search for more survivors," said Ji Xiaoyong, president of POWERCHINA Asia-Pacific.

The team also coordinated with the China General Chamber of Commerce in Thailand to support the rescue teams in hopes of finding more survivors, smoothing cooperation between China's rescue teams and Thailand government departments and guaranteeing an adequate supply of food and water for the injured, according to Huang Zheng, general manager of the Thailand branch of SINOHYDRO Corporation.
