POWERCHINA, Tsinghua discuss application of intl engineering standards

POWERCHINA and Tsinghua University held a professional training session on June 23-24 on research achievements made in the application of international engineering technical standards.

More than 150 representatives from branch companies and departments of POWERCHINA attended the training session which was given by experts from POWERCHINA International Group Limited, Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited and Sinohydro Bureau 1 Co Ltd as well as professors at Tsinghua University.

Fu Xudong, vice-chairman of the School of Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University, and Chen Guanfu, vice-general manager of POWERCHINA International Group Limited, attended the launching ceremony and delivered speeches.

Fu noted that the research achievements made by POWERCHINA and Tsinghua University will play an important role for POWERCHINA in exploring the international market, assisting Chinese enterprises in meeting international engineering technical standards, and promoting Chinese standards in the global market.

Chen stressed the importance of promoting Chinese standards as China attempts to become more global. He also elaborated on the supportive national policies, technological standards system, management process and projects undertaken by Chinese enterprises.

He said that the training session’s focus on survey and design standards and construction technical standards would strengthen the collaborative capacity of overseas teams in contracting design and construction.

Huang Ziping, deputy chief engineer of POWERCHINA, made a report and gave his thoughts on the application of hydropower technical standards in international projects.

Professors of Tsinghua University gave a series of lectures on the theory and application of a standards system. Experts from Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited and Sinohydro Bureau 1 Co Ltd gave lectures on case studies.

Research on the application of international engineering technical standards is a major project which aims to enhance POWERCHINA’s competitiveness in the international market, improve its market development ability for international projects and promote Chinese standards in the global market.
