POWERCHINA signs Bolivia's water supply project

Sinohydro Engineering Bureau 4 Co Ltd, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA, signed a contract agreement on a water supply project in Bolivia on June 4, 2018.

The project, with contract value of $110 million and duration of 33 months, is designed mainly for water supply and irrigation in Batallas, El Alto and Pucarani cities.

The project will focus on building two new dams and a drinking water treatment plant, diverting water from dams to the irrigation system, expanding the transmitting capacity between dams and the plant, and transferring drinking water to the three cities. The project will also improve the local irrigation infrastructures.

Upon completion, the project is expected to solve the long-existing water shortage of the three cities, ensure their drinking water supply for the next five decades, improve ecological environment, relieve shortage of domestic, industrial, farming and stock breeding water, improve locals’ income, and boost the cities’ development.
