POWERCHINA subsidiary hands over Indian power plant project
SEPCOⅢ, a wholly-owned subsidiary of POWERCHINA, finished construction work on the India Cuddalore 2×600MW Coal Fired Plant and handed it over to the Indian client on May 31 local time.
The project is located in Tamil Nadu in southern India and has a capacity of 2 x 600 MW with subcritical coal-fired unit. The No 2 unit integrated into the grid on April 13, 2016.
POWERCHINA built the plant in cooperation with Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Limited (IL&FS), one of India's leading infrastructure development and finance companies, and took the lead in engineering, procurement and construction work.
Ramesh Bawa, CEO of IL&FS, attended the final handover ceremony and expressed gratitude for POWERCHINA's outstanding work. He hopes to deepen cooperation with the company in other fields.
The project won the "Outstanding Concrete Building Award" in 2013 and the "Social Responsibility Platinum Award" and "Environmental Protection Gold Award" in 2016. It was also recognized as an overseas demonstration project by the China International Contractors Association. These honors have enhanced the brand image of POWERCHINA in the Indian market.
