Clean energy provides great power in Baotou

In the Darhan Muminggan Banner near the city of Baotou, Inner Mongolia, electric power from clean energy sources was up more than 101 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of this year, to 1 billion kilowatt hours, thanks to wind generated power amounting to 971 million kWh, at an increase of 102 percent from the same period last year, and solar electricity totaling 43 million kWh, up 79 percent.

The output value of all of this energy was 530 million yuan ($81.7 million), an increase of 97 percent over the amount generated for the same last year period. Darhan Muminggan Banner has started 20 projects in clean energy in this year's first quarter, and says it plans to speed up development in this area.

Project demonstrates success in Inner Mongolia
