A 90-day celebration of nomadic culture began on July 12, when the 2nd China Nomadic Culture Tourism Festival started in Darhan Mumingan Joint Banner, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region. It will last until October 9.

The second session features the participation and planning of a dozen cultural organizations and units from both national or regional level, including the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Society, Minzu University of China and Inner Mongolia Academy of Social Science.

The grassland gala was hosted by the municipal government of Baotou – the festival’s location – and China Cultural Media Group Ltd.

Based on the joint organization of the National Research Institute of Culture Industry Planning and Design, the Darhan Mumingan Joint Banner committee of CPC and the banner’s government, the festivities will be categorized into three parts with different themes. Heroic Grassland, the first part - from the event’s opening to August 15 – will focus on nomadic culture; then the second part, passionate grassland in title, will feature modern culture, and continue to Sept 30. The event’s final period will display the charming folk culture from Oct 1 to 9.

A total of 168 activities that integrate traditions with modern, ethnic culture and fashion will take place during the three periods.

These activities are divided into four sectors, including culture, traditional Mongolian sports, tourism and commerce and trade.

The first China Nomadic Culture and Tourism Festival was successfully concluded the previous year, and its success granted the event’s host, Mumingan Joint Banner, the permanent right of hosting from then on.
