By the end of November 2019, Guiyang customs in Southwest China's Guizhou province has inspected 477 batches of tea, with a quantity of 3,613.7 metric tons and a value of $120 million, a record high in Guizhou's tea exports.

In recent years, Guizhou has seen rapid development in its tea industry, with the total output value ranking first in China for seven consecutive years. The major varieties of the exported tea in Guizhou are black tea, green tea, white tea, and oolong tea.

Among them, black tea accounts for 86.6 percent of Guizhou's total tea export value, becoming the most popular tea in the overseas market followed by green tea. The average export prices of black tea and green tea are $45.20 and $12 per kilogram respectively, which are both higher than the national average.

In 2019, Guizhou tea was exported to 23 countries and regions in the world. Driven by the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Guizhou's exports of tea to countries and regions involved in the BRI totaled $65.91 million, increasing by 61.2 percent.

The main countries and regions Guizhou tea exported to are Russia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Bulgaria.

In addition to its abundant varieties, the high quality of Guizhou tea makes it favored by the overseas market. So far, the exported Guizhou tea has never been returned for quality problems.
