Guiyang ranks among China's top 100 well-off cities

According to a report on China's construction of a moderately prosperous society in all respects recently released by Competitiveness Think Tank and the Credit Committee of the China Information Industry Association, Guizhou province's capital Guiyang ranks 49th among China's top 100 cities.

The report takes economic development, people's livelihood, cultural construction, ecological environment, and city governance into consideration. It also uses indexes to access the construction of a moderately prosperous society in all respects in China's 100 cities.

Guiyang's overall moderate prosperity is 113.19, higher than the expected point of 100, becoming the only city in Guizhou listed on the rankings. While Guiyang's index in culture is at an A+ level, its indexes in economy, livelihood, ecological environment, and city governance are all at the A level.

Statistics show that in 2018, Guiyang had 2.77 million employed people, 17 times of that in 1950. It also had 920 primary schools, middle schools, secondary schools, and universities, which was 10 times of that in 1949, with 1.18 million students, 50 times of that in 1949.

Guiyang strives to enhance its reform in medicine, medical insurance, and medical treatment. Residents have benefited from the tiered medical services, medicine management, universal medical insurance, medicine supply guarantee, and comprehensive supervision systems.

By making use of the opportunities from the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, Guiyang aims to develop a middle and high end manufacturing sector with higher added value, quality, and efficiency, which will boost Guiyang's efforts in achieving high quality economic development.
