Southwest China's Guizhou, Sichuan, and Yunnan provinces recently signed agreements to co-construct three railways that are part of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

One of the railways starts from Sichuan and ends in Guangxi, passing through Guizhou. It will be the shortest one to access the seaport, which is expected to bring Guizhou closer to countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Construction on the railway between Sichuan's Chengdu and Guizhou's Guiyang is completed and will open to traffic by the end of this year. The high-speed railway between Guizhou's Guiyang and Guangxi's Nanning will be a channel connecting Guizhou with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone when finished.

In addition to the current expressways between Guizhou and Sichuan, the Gulin-Guiyang Expressway will start construction in 2020 and become the most convenient expressway between Chengdu and Guiyang.

The agreements also encourage the provinces to increase the number of non-stop flights between each other. To date, nine out of 11 airports in Guizhou have been connected with Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, while interprovincial airport terminals that allow passengers to realize off-site check-in will be established in airports in adjacent areas.

Considered as one of the key operation areas between Guizhou and Sichuan, digital economy is emerging in both provinces. By promoting the trans-provincial sharing and collaboration of government data, Guizhou and Sichuan will enhance big data application in a variety of areas.
