Pingtang Grand Bridge, the world's highest concrete bridge in Southwest China's Guizhou province, was successfully connected on Sept 26. It is expected to open to traffic by the end of this year.
As an important part of the Pingtang-Luodian Expressway in Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, the bridge spans 2,135 meters in length and has a width of 30.2 meters stretching across the Caodu River.
The three main bridge towers of the bridges are 320 meters, 332 meters, and 298 meters respectively, which equals the height of a 100-story building.

Upon completion, Pingtang Grand Bridge will replace Sutong Yangtze River Bridge, which is 300.4 meters high and located in Jiangsu province, as the world's highest concrete bridge.
The bridge will also shorten the traveling time between Pingtang and Luodian from two and a half hours to around one hour, serving as the main transportation channel in South Guizhou, as well as contributing to targeted poverty alleviation efforts and tourism development in the region.
Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, Guizhou has built 230,000 roads and bridges totaling 3,176 kilometers, which occupies 47 out of the top 100 highest bridges in the world.
