A transportation platform providing customized transportation routes has become increasingly popular in villages in southwest China's Guizhou province, as users living in remote mountainous areas can easily get to downtown areas.

Launched in July 2017, the transport system is able to meet various transportation needs of local villagers by applying a big data platform, which can coordinate the needs for commuters by providing and arranging special use and express customized vehicles to take them to their destinations.

"Since the operation of the platform, transportation costs has been greatly reduced for villagers, as well as the number of accidents," said Gao Weidong, Guizhou deputy to the 13th National People's Congress and head of the provincial transport department.

As of now, 88 counties in Guizhou have been connected to the platform and 25,000 service stations have been established, with more than 400,000 users, 70,000 coach busses, and 3,000 trucks, he added.

He used Leishan county in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture as an example of the platform's effectiveness, as transportation waiting time has been reduced from two hours to 30 minutes and the number of accidents have been halved.

At the end of 2018, the platform has been included into the national first pilot projects featuring transportation and big data, and has impressed the nation for its efficient data integration between government and enterprise.

In 2019, the system began its promotion nationwide. It is required that most counties in China complete transportation and big data integration by the end of 2020.
