Guizhou impresses nation for rapid digital economic development

"In 2018, Guizhou has proved itself not only able to keep up with times but is a place rich in resources for the development of big data," said Luo Peng, Guizhou's deputy to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) and CEO of Huochebang, China's Uber-type hailing app for trucks.

As the first national comprehensive pilot zone, Guizhou was home to 8,900 big data enterprises in 2018, with an industry scale exceeding 110 billion yuan ($16.40 billion).

At present, 1,625 economic entities in Guizhou have been deeply integrated with big data and 33.9 percent of the province's industrial companies have applied big data for their R&D, manufacturing, sales, and management.

In 2018, the business volume of Guizhou's telecommunications industry increased by 165.5 percent and the internet business revenue grew by 75.8 percent. The province has also become the southern center for the government affairs' cloud system.

By the end of 2018, the growth of Guizhou's digital economic development and digital economy employment ranked first in the nation for three consecutive years. A large number of tech giants have opened data bases in the province, including Apple Inc, Tencent, Huawei, and Qualcomm.
