More and more people in Qiandongnan autonomous prefecture, Southwest China's Guizhou province have had their houses renovated, which has begun to improve their living conditions, said Luo Qiang, head of Qiandongnan.
Luo made his statement during an interview at the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) and disclosed that the prefecture has implemented a renovation plan for 622,300 houses, eliminating 20,713 houses in rural areas that were in poor conditions.
"When carrying out the renovation plan, we not only burnished the old houses but also equipped them with new fire-prevention facilities and took protective measures on traditional villages," Luo said.
In addition, the prefecture provided additional help to local people for developing their own businesses according to the tourism resources. Currently, more than 145,000 people have found jobs in tourism, including farmhouse tours, farmhouse homestays, tour guides, and attraction management.
