NPC deputy Wu Minglan: providing quality education

Updated: 2019-03-12

"The Government Work Reports over the past two years have promoted the integrated development of urban and rural compulsory education to facilitate the sharing of quality resources," said Wu Minglan, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) and a teacher at Liupanshui Experimental Primary School, Guizhou province.

The Guizhou Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government have made education a developmental priority. Every year, six percent of administrative funds are used for improving education.

The balanced development of compulsory education in Liupanshui has been very successful. Children of low-income families in urban areas can now enjoy appropriate funding and teacher salaries are no longer lower than civil servant salaries, said Wu.

Wu said he hopes the government will focus more on the development of education in rural and poverty-stricken areas, allowing every child to receive a quality education.
