On March 10, Luo Yi, member of the Standing Committee and Ethnic Affairs Committee of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), reviewed the draft of the foreign investment law and suggested improving the environment for the opening-up of impoverished areas of ethnic groups to aid in poverty alleviation.

Luo Yi, who is also director of the standing committee of the Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture people's congress, said relevant departments of the central government should strengthen guidance on implementing relevant laws and policies in the field of foreign investment in impoverished areas of ethnic groups.
Guizhou province should take advantage of the new foreign investment law to increase foreign direct investment and introduce advanced technology and equipment, Luo added.
