The Guizhou delegation to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) held a plenary meeting on March 10 to review the draft for a new foreign investment law.
According to Sun Zhigang, deputy to the 13th NPC, secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, and director of the standing committee of the Guizhou Provincial People's Congress, a unified basic law on foreign investment may attract more foreign investment and provide legal protections throughout the opening-up of the country.

The law is based on the previous 40 years of foreign investment experiences and is meant to promote high quality economic development. It is also fundamental to creating a good business environment.
Guizhou will take the new law as an opportunity to develop an inland open economy pilot zone and make progress in reform and opening-up.
