Yan Wanping: livelihood fundamental to social development

At a Guizhou delegation meeting open to the media on March 7, Yan Wanping, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress, confirmed that Guizhou will continue working to improve living standards.

Guizhou will increase its basic pension to 93 yuan ($14) per month and its medical insurance financial subsidy from 490 yuan per year to 520 yuan per year.

In 2019, Guizhou will focus on improving medical treatment in counties, townships, and impoverished areas in a push to provide universal basic public health services.

A total of 101.8 billion yuan was spent on supporting infrastructure in poor rural areas from 2016 to 2018. The province also spent 41 billion yuan to help 1.28 million people relocate from poor areas in 2018.

Guizhou also established a poverty alleviation fund and preferential policies to support green agricultural products. A total of 40 billion yuan was spent on agricultural industrial restructuring from 2016 to 2018.
