People who used to live in poverty-stricken areas and have been relocated to more developed communities cherish their life greatly, with almost every household hanging two pictures about their past and present living conditions as a reminder.

Sun Zhigang, secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and deputy to the 13th National People's Congress made the above statement when reviewing the Government Work Report on March 6.

A total of 1.88 million impoverished residents in Guizhou are expected to be relocated for better living conditions, accounting for 15 percent of the amount of people in the national plan for poverty elimination during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).

Statistics show that by the end of February, Guizhou has helped 1.32 million people out of poverty-stricken areas move into more developed communities, with another 56,000 people planning to finish relocation during the first half of this year.

Alleviating poverty through relocation has been a "key drive" in China's poverty reduction and the supply-side structural reform for the country during the past few years. China has set 2020 as the target to finish building a moderately prosperous society and eradicate poverty.
