Guizhou deputies to the 13th National People's Congress praised the province's green environment, products, and economic development during the group interview held on March 7.
Sun Zhigang, secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee called for more tourists to visit Guizhou and even spend their retirement in the southwest China province for its pristine ecological environment.
"Guizhou's green agricultural products are healthy. And the more they sell, the more income increases for local farmers," said Guizhou Governor Shen Yiqin.
Currently, Guizhou has implemented numerous measures to transform its ecological resources to spur economic growth, striking a balance between ecological protection and economic development, said Li Zaiyong, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee.
The province has pledged to reduce pollution and integrate ecological civilization construction into every aspect of its policies to promote a new development model emphasizing greenness, recyclability, low-carbon, and coordination.
The ecological economy of Chishui has been particularly successful, accounting for more than 75 percent of the city's economic structure. In 2018, Chishui was honored as a national practice base for developing economy through ecological resources.
"Many Chishui people have found jobs and improved their lives through the development of ecological tourism," said Yang Changqin, who is in charge of the Chishui Qianshou Bamboo Art Development Co. Transformation from ecological resources to economic benefits has become more diversified in Chishui, she added.
