During an open-day activity organized by the Guizhou delegation to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC), Sun Zhigang, deputy to the 13th NPC, secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, and director of the standing committee of the Guizhou Provincial People's Congress, confirmed that Guizhou will continue promoting rural industrial restructuring.

Guizhou has relocated 1.32 million people thus far and plans to relocate another 560,000 in the first half of 2019. Together with reservoir resettlements and environmental migration, over two million people are expected to be lifted from poverty.

Rural industrial restructuring in Guizhou has seen remarkable results. Guizhou decreased the area needed for planting corn by 7.85 million mu (523,300 hectares) by improving efficiency, and added 6.67 million mu of efficient cash crop fields, increasing the overall yield of agricultural products.
Guizhou's goal is to raise 1.1 million people and 17 impoverished counties out of poverty this year.
