Guizhou Governor Shen Yiqin praised the development of the province's tourism industry on March 6, while reviewing the Government Work Report that was delivered by Premier Li Keqiang at the opening of the second session of the 13th National People's Congress in Beijing the previous day.
The province's tourism industry saw great development in 2018, as the number of tourism visits and revenue increased by 30.2 percent and 33.1 percent respectively. Statistics show that Guizhou received more than 900 million visitors and generated 900 billion yuan ($134.166 billion) in revenue last year.
As the deputy secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee, Shen affirmed that the growth rate of Guizhou tourism also ranked first nationwide in 2018 and that in peak holiday times, it is comparatively hard to get a ticket for some scenic spots in the province.
In recent years, Guizhou has taken a number of targeted measures to stimulate its tourism industry, including developing some customized products, promoting its unique brands, and integrating tourism with other industries.
