Updated: 2019-03-07

On March 6, Gao Weidong, a deputy to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) and head of the Guizhou Provincial Transportation Department, brought up the development of transportation in Guizhou when reviewing the Government Work Report.

In 2018, Guizhou made new breakthroughs in transportation, building 617 kilometers of expressways.

The total length of expressways in the province has reached 6,452 kilometers, ranking 7th in the country, up from 9th in 2015. Guizhou also has the country's densest network of expressways.

Guizhou completed renovations on 1,100 kilometers of national and provincial highways, as well as its plans to become a "transportation demonstration province", which were approved by the Ministry of Transport of China, said Gao.

In addition, the province's rural travel service platform is now available in all counties, and the province's expressway toll stations now all support WeChat pay, making Guizhou the first province in West China to fully implement such a service, Gao added.
