The delegation of Guizhou deputies attending the second session of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) held a meeting in Beijing on March 3.
The meeting elected Sun Zhigang, a deputy to the NPC, secretary of the Guizhou Provincial CPC Committee, and director of the standing committee of the Guizhou Provincial People's Congress, as head of the Guizhou delegation.
At the meeting, drafts of the agenda and the presidium and secretary-general name lists for the upcoming annual session were reviewed.
Sun said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. All deputies must shoulder the responsibilities entrusted to them by the national constitution and by Guizhou's 40 million people of all ethnic groups.
Deputies should also review the session's reports and relevant draft laws, and make decisions relevant to the modern era and in accordance with the wishes of the people, Sun said.
Throughout the years, Guizhou has made many impressive achievements in economic and social development. It is the duty of the deputies to represent modern Guizhou and the needs of all its people in order to garner more support for the province, Sun added.
