Guiyang's Summer Resort Season was recognized among the "2018 Top 10 Best-known Celebrations in China" at the 2018 Leisure Tourism Development and Quality Summit held in Beijing on June 24.
Guiyang, the provincial capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is best-known for its cool, pleasant climate year-round and beautiful natural environment. Launched in 2007, the Guiyang Summer Resort Season managed to attract visitors with amazing scenery, good services and rich local culture.
The city's tourism brand, known as "Cool Guiyang", has helped to increase the city's fame. In 2017, about 148.78 million people travelled to Guiyang, up 34.13 percent year-on-year. Tourism income reached 187.2 billion yuan ($28.3 billion), according to the city's government report.
"It is an honor for the Guiyang Summer Resort Season to receive such an award," said an officer of the Guiyang Tourism Industry Development Committee. "It will also encourage us to turn Guiyang into an internationally renowned city with a strong and healthy environment."
Kaiyang county in Guiyang was listed among the "Top National Leisure Tourism Resorts" at the 2018 Leisure Tourism Development and Quality Summit.
