Beipanjiang Bridge in Guizhou province won the Jinlu Cup of the China Highway and Transportation Society(CHTS) at the 2018 World Transport Convention (WTC) on June 19.

Constructed by Guizhou Road & Bridge Group Co Ltd, Beipanjiang Bridge stretches high above Beipanjiang Grand Valley on the boundary between Southwest China's Guizhou and Yunnan provinces. With a total length of 1,261 meters, it is the longest slant legged steelwork bridge in Asia.

"We are very grateful to receive the Jinlu Cup. It is a great honor for all who worked on this bridge," said Zhou Ping, deputy chief engineer of Guizhou Highway Group and director of the Bidu highway project. "It is an acknowledgement of the bridge's superior quality, from design to construction and management."

Before winning the Jinlu Cup, Beipanjiang Bridge won the Gustav Lindenthal Award at the 35th International Bridge Conference(IBC) and the Huangguoshu Cup Quality Engineering Award. Awards like these encourage bridge builders to work hard and overcome challenges, Zhou Ping added.

The China Highway and Transportation Society Science and Technology Prize was launched in 2002. It awards distinguished transportation construction companies and organizations annually. Altogether 165 projects received the prize this year.
