The current villagers' ancestors originally settled here at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Louna River meanders through the village, providing water to the residents living in the rows of Bouyei-style houses at the foot of the mountains.

Connected to the outside world by only a 300-meter karst cave, one would imagine that the village has remained relatively isolated.

However, that is not the case at all.

Since 2016, architects from around the world have been invited to design and build facilities for the Louna International Architect's Village in the beautiful and remote valley.
