Zhaoxing Dong village in Southwest China's Guizhou province has been chosen as one of four sub-venues of the Central China Television's (CCTV) Spring Festival Gala, the country's most popular TV program in celebration of Chinese New Year's Eve on Feb 15.

Located in the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong autonomous prefecture, Zhaoxing Dong village is home to 4,146 people of Dong ethnicity and 1,012 Dong households. It is known as the biggest Dong village in China.

The Spring Festival Gala's production team chose this village not only for its beautiful natural scenery but also for the unique ethnic culture and the hospitality of the local ethnic minority. They have selected more than 2,000 local Dong people to perform as a grand chorus.

"We hope to fully present the features of Dong and Miao ethnic groups by involving as many local people as possible," said Liu Huizi, director of the sub-venue of the gala in Qiandongnan.

The production team has already begun stage and setting tests in preparation for the evening. Cutting-edge theatrical devices will create magnificent visual effects.

Beijing will continue to host the main session this year. Besides Qiandongnan, the other live broadcasting sub-venues of the Spring Festival Gala are Zhuhai in Guangdong province, Qufu and Tai'an in Shandong province, and Sanya in Hainan province.
