In the past two years about 440,000 quality inspection reports have been generated by a big data construction management platform led by the housing bureau of Guiyang, Guizhou province.

More than 700 cameras had been set up in 488 building sites in Guiyang by the end of 2016, with a sensor attached to each site to monitor dust, wind direction, temperature and humidity. All city-level building sites in Guiyang are covered by cameras, with coverage of others of county level reaching over 90 percent.

“The big data construction management platform facilitates remote monitoring for the Guiyang government,” said Lu Jinbo, the deputy general manager of Jinjian Data Co, which set up the management platform.“Real-time governmental supervision of safety and air conditions has been realized, and this is improving the efficiency of construction industry.”

In the construction sector, the quality of building materials plays a fundamental role. By scanning QR codes and chips on samples, quality inspectors can check the reality and immediately upload relevant data to the big data management platform. If there is fake information, the government can quickly interview those involved.

“The platform works effectively in reducing illegal activities by avoiding fake samples, which completes a full market access system,” said Lu Jinbo.

Back pay is common in the construction industry, especially for rural migrant workers. To solve this problem, Jinjian Data Co is conducting a “one-card” pilot project at China State Construction Engineering Co. The project integrates balance sheets and punch-card records onto a single card.

Jinjian Data Co will introduce a cellphone application to the public by May for governmental real-time supervision, and information on industrial trends and recruitment.
