An area of two square kilometers has been built into a pitaya plantation base in Baiceng town, Guizhou province.
Located in the Beipanjiang River valley region, the low altitude and high temperature of Baiceng town is especially suitable for cultivating pitaya. One hundred and fifty million yuan ($21.7 million) was invested to build the plantation base and supporting facilities, including a product exhibition center, seedling greenhouses and irrigation network.
The new plantation has greatly benefited residents in Baiceng, a region with an eighty-five percent minority population, providing employment for over 500 people.
