Shazi town in Guizhou’s Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture has been given a facelift thanks to some recent infrastructure projects.

The town is near the famous “24 turns” scenic spot, referring to the landscapes by a hilly road that has 24 turns in Qinglong county. The area boasts rustic views consisting of a reservoir, tea plantations and historical sites from the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-45).

To maximize its tourism potential, local authorities have spent heavily on building theme parks, a war cultural complex and other landscaping projects hoping to enhance the county’s brand as “a hidden pearl in Qinglong’s mountains”.
