Guizhou is gearing up to promote its world class tourism resources at the International Conference of Mountain Tourism and Outdoor Sports, which will take place in the Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture from Sept 22-23.

The province launched 28 projects in April to support its tourism industry in the Qianxinan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture, with 14.80 billion yuan ($2.22 billion) coming from the government coffers. The projects vary in scope and include the transportation and leisure industries.

According to the sponsor of mountain tourism conference, the main conference site will be located in Wanfeng Forest. To provide a vivid tourism experience to visitors, a bike lane, sightseeing track lane and racecourse have been constructed, among other facilities. The new builds have increased the forest’s daily tourist capacity from 4,000 people to 20,000 people.

“The infrastructure construction has been promoted and we’ve got more activity choices now,” said Zhao Xingke, a tourist at Wanfeng Forest.

More than 1,000 guests are slated to attend the conference and its activities, including government officials, tourism experts from around the world and representatives of tourist organizations.

The conference will be themed on exploring Guizhou’s landscapes and the harmony between man and nature. It aims to promote the sustainable development of mountain tourism and encourage cooperation within the industry.
