Guizhou province held a promotional conference in French capital of Paris on July 18.

Publicity films, ethnic dances and pictures of scenery in the province were presented on the day, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Gao Yuanyuan, counselor of the Chinese embassy to Paris, said that Guizhou is rich in tourism resources and spoke highly of the tourism industry in France.

The promotional event was designed to let French people know more about Guizhou and increase cooperation between France and Guizhou.

Jean Louis Balandraud, former Secretary General of the National Tourism Board, recently led 50 French painters to the northern Guizhou city of Zunyi to collect materials. He said he was deeply impressed by the local natural scenery and simple folk way of life. In April, a French televised documentary RDV En Terre Inconnue released an episode featuring the Miao ethnic group in Guizhou. The program was viewed by 5.23 million people, greatly increasing the exposure of the ethnic group in France.

Located in Southwest China, Guizhou is the only province in China with no plains. Instead, it features a wide distribution of typical karst formations and is rich in natural beauty, local customs, unique cuisines and history.

France is Guizhou’s fourth largest overseas tourism market and the conference was aimed at attracting more people to travel in Guizhou.
