Let's not forget China's unsung heroes

At its height, WWII was one of the most divisive wars the world has ever seen. Yet among the horrors, it also brought humanity us closer together. More than 70 years on, it is difficult for such tales of reunions and memories of those times not to give us a warm feeling inside.

Moving to China to work as an editor has given me the opportunity to cover the 75th Anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre, and learn of heroic acts such as those of John Rabe, the “Schindler of China” who helped save hundreds of thousands of lives. The carnage of war reached further than the shores of Normandy and the jungles of Iwo Jima, it affected everyone.

Some say heroes are reserved for the comics of Marvel and D.C, but there are real heroes, and we must never forget them.
