A new arrival: Christian Wiendieck and his Kempinski Hotel story

"I love Guiyang cuisine, especially the spicy food," says Christian Wiendieck, the new general manager of Kempinski Hotel Guiyang. "I love the pristine air and feel comfortable exploring the city riding on my bike," he says.

Christian Wiendieck is from Germany. He began in the catering industry in 1990. He joined the Kempinski Group Bristol Berlin in 1997, devoting himself to the hotel's banquet and operations management. With abundant management experience, he went to Kempinski Croatia holding the post of general manager.

Wiendieck has lived in China for five years. He spent a lot of time studying Chinese when he first came to China as the general manager of the Kempinski Hotel in Dalian. "I hope to learn more about China," said Wiendieck.

In 2016, he became the new general manager at the Kempinski Hotel in Guiyang.

Wiendieck has been involved in hospitality group for decades. His dedication and enthusiasm are evident.

"An excellent manager should extend himself as far as possible to all sides of the hotel service," Wiendieck says. He believes that respect should be extended to each staff and meticulousness should be applied to each detail of the hotel operations.

"We have six different-style dining rooms and lounge bars in Kempinski Guiyang, providing world-wide delicate food. It is hard to pick out the most distinctive place in Kempinski because everyone can find places perfect for them here," says Wiendieck.

Wiendieck hopes to blend in the most authentic Guiyang cuisine with the Paulaner Brauhaus, located on the sixth floor of the Kempinski Hotel Guiyang.

In Paulaner Brauhaus, people can enjoy authentic Bavarian specialties alongside freshly tapped Paulaner beer served to traditional German tables and benches by a wait staff dressed in traditional costumes.

Wiendieck has certain views about capturing market share of the hospitality industry as more and more international chain hotels march into Guizhou.

"All five-star hotels are outfitted with plush furnishings and a complete set of amenities; however, not all pay attention to tiny details," he says. "As the market leader in Guiyang, it's essential for us to consider customers' likes and provide appropriate service."
