The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project, based in southern France, recently named Xinli, a manufacturer of gravity support for field coils, in the city of Zunyi, Guizhou province, as a manufacturer for its magnetic system, ITER experts report.

ITER is considered the most ambitious energy project in the world today, as the first fusion device for producing energy, and is a joint operation of China, the EU, India, Japan, Korea, Russia and the US.

One ITER spokesman explained the move by saying they have confidence in Xinli's products and, "They have professional performance in both manufacturing and technology."

The head of the company Wan Donghai, said that, "After years of research, we have finally shifted to the manufacturing phase of ITER parts," then added that, after exporting fission products to the EU market, the company is paving the way to fusion device production and expects to move a large number of parts to France the second half of this year.

Li Pengyuan, an assistant chief engineer at the China Southern Institute of Physics, notes, "The State is working on an energy restructure and has become a member of the ITER project as a most crucial bit of international cooperation," and says he thinks the company is qualified in international thermonuclear products after years of contributing to China's nuclear power development.
