The city of Anshun, Guizhou province, recently announced a discount tourist package that allows people to get tickets to the city's two major attractions -- the Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area and Dragon Palace Scenic Area -- for 270 yuan ($40) instead of the usual 330 yuan.

City authorities say that this move is part of their new administration's tourism strategy to stimulate growth. In fact, the city has long been a popular destination for travelers and attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists from across China and abroad every year.

There are reasons for this: attractive scenery and nature and the waterfall, Asia's largest of its kind, and the Dragon Palace, one of the world's largest collection of caves, and some 600-year-old villages.

Anshun received 31.76 million tourists in 2014, generating 30.7 billion yuan ($4.95 billion) in revenues.
