The 5th China International Alcoholic Beverage Expo will open on Wednesday in the city of Guiyang, Guizhou province, with hopes of building on the success of previous sessions which go back to 2011 as China's only national-level show of its kind.

The show, which lasts to Sept 12, will have seven exhibition halls, with a total area of 72,000 square meters for alcohol from China and abroad and alcohol-related products, with as many as 1,020 overseas dealers and manufacturers from France, the US, Germany and two dozen other countries who have confirmed their attendance.
The event will have almost 400 liquor companies from across China, and 268 from within the province.
At last year's expo, which was a great success, there were 108 contracts signed after the opening ceremony, worth 113-billion yuan ($18.4 billion) and the province uses it to attract more overseas investors to contribute to the industry.
