Guizhou will implement a geological disaster control and relocation project for 98 primary and secondary schools in 2014 to protect the safety of students and teachers, and relocate schools accordingly.

Mountainous and hilly areas make up 92.5 percent of Guizhou. Some of the primary and secondary schools are facing fragile geological environments.

The Guizhou Provincial Education Department and Guizhou Provincial Fiscal Department recently published an action plan to ensure the safety of schools that face the risk of geological disasters.

Through the plan, the Guizhou Provincial Government hopes that it can eliminate risks of geological disasters in the province's 315 rural schools within three years.

The Guizhou Provincial Government has organized more than 100 experts and technicians for scientific planning. They have been dispatched to conduct field research in the 315 rural primary and secondary schools.
