Tongren city of Guizhou province will apply for UNESCO World Natural Heritage recognition for Fanjing Mountain this year in order to improve the position of Tongren city among world tourism destinations.
Fanjing Mountain, with a height of 2,572 meters, is one of China's Buddhist mountains and home to a rare species of macaque.

A group of experts will conduct preparation work for the application between April 2 and 6, including application requirements discussion, paperwork preparation and success rate estimation.
Paul Williams, an expert from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), suggests that it strengthen the study of biological diversity and ecological processes of Fanjing Mountain and provide convincing data and conclusions to UNESCO that will be helpful for the successful application.
"The global uniqueness is the premise of Fanjing Mountain as a UNESCO World Heritage," said Liang Yongning, an expert of the application preparation team.
