The 4G era will kick off in Guizhou province after Spring Festival 2014. The three major telecom operators, Guizhou Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom, are snatching market share by utilizing their advantages.

Guizhou launched its first TD-LTE pilot construction projects in 2012. TD-LTE, known as 4G, is China’s fourth generation mobile communication system and the world’s most advanced communication technology.

According to test results from China Mobile, 4G's uplink and downlink network speeds reach 50Mbps and 100Mbps at the most, respectively, 40 times than that of 3G.

Wu Zhaoxiang, vice-general manager of Guizhou Unicom, said,"If we consider 2G as a country road and 3G as highway with two lanes, then we should regard 4G as a highway with four lanes."

Although 4G is faster, the charges will be cheaper than 3G, all the three major telecom operators promised at a press conference held by the Guizhou Communication Administration on Thursday.

China Mobile promotes various 4G pricing packages, announcing a minimum flow price of 0.035 yuan ($0.0058) per megabyte.

Wu said: "The price of 2G is the most expensive. The price of 3G decreased by a hundredfold. 4G will see a more significant decline."

Besides providing pricing packages, Guizhou Telecom has launched overflow alerts, automatic speed limits, and other functions to prevent high prices for subscribers.

In addition to benefiting citizens, 4G also contributes to social economic development. A 10 billion yuan ($1.65 billion) increase in information consumption can promote a 38.3 billion yuan increase of GDP.

The development of 4G will provide more job opportunities. To take 3G as an example, its development has directly provided about 10,000 job opportunities, and indirectly added 21,000 jobs as well.
