Mulao traditions staged in Luocheng

Performers from Luocheng Mulao autonomous county in Hechi staged a show tour in the county on March 26, performing Mulao folk traditions in celebration of the Shangsi Festival.

Luocheng is home to 124,700 people belonging to the Mulao ethnic group, accounting for 33 percent of the total local population. A mixture of Mulao and Yao traditions are well preserved within the county.

Dragon dancing, lion dancing, Caidiao opera, a traditional costumes show, Yao drumming and martial arts performances were staged by troupes from the Siba, Xiaochang'an, Nawen townships and downtown Luocheng county, delighting the attending audience of the tour.

Other special activities, including Mulao bamboo ball playing, a campfire party and Lu Sheng Cai Tang (a traditional dance to reed wind instrumental accompaniment) were also held throughout the county during the festival, boosting local tourism and culture.
