Direct flights from Fuzhou to Taiwan increase to 21 per week
Updated: 2010-07-20

So far there are 21 direct flights per week from Fuzhou Changle International Airport to six Chinese Taiwan cities, including Taoyuan, Songshan, Taizhong, Gaoxiong, Hualian, and Penghu.

With the increase of passengers, more air routes between Fuzhou and Taiwan have been set up since the opening of the first direct route early this year. There are some landmarks: Chinese Taiwan TransAsia Airways launched Fuzhou-Taizhong flight on February 8; Chinese Taiwan UNI Air launched the first Fuzhou-Taibei flight on March 15; TransAsia Airway lauched Fuzhou-Gaoxiong flight on April 8. The three routes established the direct flight framework, as Taibei, Taizhong, and Gaoxiong are three major Taiwan cities from north to south. Later Fuzhou-Hualian flight was opened on June 15, and Fuzhou-Penghu flight, the first flight from Fujian to a Chinese Taiwan city outside Taiwan Island proper, was opened on June 21.

Nevertheless direct flights from Fuzhou to Taiwan were usually full loaded, with seat ratios never under 90%. To cater to the need of passengers across the Straits, Fuzhou Changle Airport launched another nine direct flights on July 9 to guarantee at least one round-trip direct flight between Fuzhou and Taiwan every day.
