Updated: 2010-07-15

2010 Cross-Straits Fishery Week & 5th Fishery Expo is to be held at the end of September in Fuzhou and program details have been announced by the local government on July 14.

The Expo will be co-hosted by China`s Ministry of Agriculture.A promotion campaign has started to attract businesses.

Delegates from Taiwan, who play a central role in the Expo, will also show off their ample fishery resources. Both sides across the Straits share strong complementarities in fishery and it points to an exciting prospect for their cooperation. During last year’s economic meltdown, both sides have settled on joint approaches of managing themselves out of the recession.

Today, both sides have enjoyed a significant growth in their relationship. It is therefore more significant for them to foster a closer cooperation and advance their exchanges.

A series of activities are to be held to bulk up the contents. One of the central features is that those activities will be closer to the heart of ordinary people who care about their day-to-day lives. The forum will be discussing cooperation and development prospects, and a project match will be held for both sides wanting to seek business opportunities. In addition, an evening party will be held to celebrate the fruitful achievements of their cooperation. A talk on seafood and health will also be given by health experts.

Fujian, a province in eastern China rich in marine resources, has seen a boom in its economic sector over the recent years thanks to its geographical advantages. It is expected that fishery week will become another important platform for both parties to further their exchanges.
