Honglincuo, the largest ancient individual building in China, reopened to the public recently after its 2-year restoration. The building was heavily damaged by typhoon Nepartak on July 11, 2016.

Located in Xinhu village, Bandong town, Minqing county, Fuzhou, Fujian province, Honglincuo was first constructed in 1795 (the 60th year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty) and took 28 years to complete.

The ancient building covers an area of more than 17,000 square meters, with 35 halls of different sizes and 666 rooms. It was once the largest and most well-preserved folk residence in China, and has the name of “the Folk Forbidden City".
