Delonix regia, a species of flowering plant, recently, has come into a full bloom in Quanzhou, East China's Fujian province, as it enters flowering season in May.
Also known as the flame tree, Delonix regia, is noted for its fern-like leaves and flamboyant flowers, and widely grown as an ornamental tree in the southern part of the country.
In addition to Fujian, the places where the tree is commonly seen still include Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Hainan and Taiwan.
Quanzhou, a major port for foreign trade in Fujian, is a renowned historical and cultural city in the region.
The flowers of Delonix regia are large, with four spreading scarlet or orange-red petals up to 8 cm long
